We were out experimenting with builds in team arenas and we come upon this balanced group. We obviously lost to a more decent group since our build was just a trial but they were really jerks about it. We find them again so again they kept calling us noobs and kept saying we suck, we already said it was experimental but they were real ----s about it. We really don't care so we don't bother retaliating and move on.

Another time was when we made a quick spike build and we took it to HoH. We fight and go up against this group, we kill about half their team but get ourselves killed in the process. Again it was a good try for a new build but again they start. They go "stupid noobs", "YOU GUYS JUST GOT ----ing OWNED!!" and "go back to farming ettins or something". Which is so ironic because we killed most of them in the begginning and that guy was wearing 15karmor. We just didn't know our real flaws yet so we lost, good try and more practice then.

I find stupid people like these everywhere and it sickens me. So I guess most noobs call others noobs. I find ignorance is different from stupidity and people think they are so good because they know something the other doesn't. The only time I could call a person a noob is when they are really serious about something stupid. Like a ranger saying he owned you because he comboed Ignite Arrows with Barrage, now that is a real dumbass right there. If people actually gave a good match and played decently but still lost, I'd simply say gg and nice job. Wouldn't bother calling everyone I beat a noob and everyone who are less experienced either.

Dude your a n00b.

Losing does not mean you are a Noob.

I get that all the time 'cause I am beast master and a lot of people think BM is useless.

Actually, the MOST annoying is a W/Mo with Mending who calls people Noobs. I have no problem with W/Mo but they are certainly not the deciding factor in most competitions.

I've never called anyone Noobs. NEVER. I think a lot of skills are paper-scissors-rock. The skill may work well against caster but not against melee class and vice versa. Mending is not a bad skill but when being used on a warrior, that's not too smart.

Another thing I hate is to call your teammates noobs. Or people who lost the game call the winners Noobs. lol This is probably the weirdest logic in Guild Wars. You lost and call others Noobs.

We all know you only wrote this because you are a n00b with only 2 fame and 50 faction. BTW you got that 2 fame from people ragequiting at your n00bness.

Or maybe not...

Here's the sad part: after 5 pages, no one in this thread has spelled the term correctly yet... it's not "noob," it's "n00b" with zero's

Hence, if someone uses the term incorrectly, please kindly correct their spelling.

But how else am I going to proclaim my power over someone else?

Whenever I get called a noob, I just respond with something witty.

Them: Haha noob you got beat by paladin premade!
Me: Haha noob you just beat paladin premade!

PvP is competition. Competition warrants shit talk and boasting. That's how it is for the average competition junkie. Just deal with it instead of getting offended.

Heres my 2 cents. This actualy goes with everything over the net. People on the net have the biggest bawls because they don't have to say those things to a person face to face where they might get their rear-ends handed to them on pike. A very fine example of this portrayal is in the movie "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" at the end when they went to all the houses of the forum posters and beat the living snot out of the little kids posting. Truth is, this is the only way these people can get enough confidence in themselves to feel worth. I'm generalizing here and drawing some nasty conclusions, but it makes logical sense to me and since i denounce your reality and substitute it with my own, i can believe what i like here when i say: These are most likely the same insecure people who pretend to be someone they are not in chat rooms or on "Friend Finder" websites to try and pick up a date. These sad pathetic (usualy male virgins between the age of 16 and 25) decaying matter, sitting in front of a keyboard with questionable stains on it would urinate themselves the moment someone who took offense to their bantering showed up on their doorstep.

If you should be sitting there questioning my right to say such things, let me say that if there were a degree for online gaming, id have a phd. I started off gaming in the early 90s on whats know as a MUD (this is were the term mob came from by the way, short for mobile object, because the scripting for npcs allowed them to move from one area to the next). No i don't live in my mothers basement, though my pc does reside in my full finished basement in my 3 bedroom condo where i live with my wife and soon to be son (due jan. 25th). I make about 40k a year and am about to start my own business. Ive played a lot of online games including many pay to play (which i dont feel like doing anymore now that there are free ones) I still mud, and for you teenie boppers out there, thats an online game with no graphics, its all text, where you actualy have to read the room descriptions to know where the heck you are.

p.s. I do find that because GW has no monthly fees, you get alot more people who are downright rude and offensive because they know nothing will happen. Game management basicly says "Deal with it, you paid for the game, not the service, its not our job to hold your hands". Pay to Play have very strict rules about harrassment of any sort and naming conventions for pc names that are strictly enforced. The reason behind this is because when you pay for a service, the company you are paying become liable for the the game content. If you were called a nasty racial name on WoW or Evercrack, reported the infraction with proof (screen shot and witnesses) and nothing came about it, they would find themselves in an actionable position in court. They are responsible because they are being paid for a service. But a little intelligence does go a long way with these people. My personal favorite is when i see some moron hop in an area and spout of racial remarks and saying KKK forever and other stupidity, i simply remind them that the only white people in the bible were the high ranking romans who killed their beloved savior. I find they usualy leave right then and there. And i like to think i just lit the spark of doubt in their brain. Remember, this is my reality, no yours

Honestly, you need to have a set of chained insults to throw back at them. It usually works for me. Here's what I use:

Them: " *insult* noob *insult* "
Me: You're only upset cause your fat.
Me: FATTY
Me: GO HOME
Me: GO HOME FATTY
Me: guys get out of fatty's way, he might eat you
Me: FATTY GO HOME
Me: You cry now FATTY?
Me: No more talk from FATTY.

At this point they usually walk away from me

Me: Come back here, I'm not through demeaning you.
Me: FATTY.

Then you can fill in the remaining time with your own insults. Remember to ignore anything they throw back at you or ask them to prove it. For example:

Them: "You're mother is fat"
Me: Do you have Proof?
Me: I didn't think so, FATTY
Them: Yes I do, cause I did it with her last night
Me: Do you have proof you did it with her?
Me: Need I go on, FATTY?

And if they ask you for proof ignore it. The strategy here is to COMPLETELY ignore most of their insults and focus on your own. Remember, no spelling error is too insignificant to throw back at them.

And plus, your Ignore list is a handy tool, mine is already filled up!

N00b Question: where does the term n00b come from exactly? I always assumed it was from 'newbie'. But maybe I am wrong. And if I am right, what does the '00' stand for?
